Winter Snow Storm Nails

Hey! This nail design is inspired by winter! Now that it's December, I'm finally starting to see snow here in New York! So anyways, enjoy this design!
If you like it, please keep reading for the tutorial.

Step1: apply a base coat to protect your natural nails. Then use a white nail polish and paint that over the entire nail.

Step2: use a blue nail polish, and wipe off most of the polish on the brush, leaving only a very slight bit. This will allow you to create a very light blue haze over the nails. Paint about two-thirds of the nail with this blue.

Step3: next, use the same blue nail polish, but with more polish on the brush this time, to make the darkest shade. Paint only the tip of the nail with this color.

Step4: now use a glitter over the entire nail. This is blend the nail polishes and make a gradient that mimics a snowstorm.

Step5: now use a toothpick to make small white dots over the nails. This represents the snow falling down. These white dots should be small and subtle.

Step6: apply a top coat, and enjoy your nails! Here's the final look:

Catching Fire Nails!

It's November 22! And that means that Catching Fire is out!! I'm going to see it tonight with my friends. Sooooo exciting!
Anyways, this manicure is inspired by the Hunger Games: Catching Fire! Enjoy, and may the odds be every in your favor!

First I will show you how to do the flames, then we will create the mockingjay at the end.

Step1: apply a base coat. Then use a yellow nail polish and paint along the cuticle. It should cover about one-third of the nail.

Step2: now use an orange and create a layer above the yellow. (FYI I removed the polish on my ring finger because the mockingjay will go there)

Step3: now add a layer of red to the tip of the nail.

Step4: For this next step, you can allow the nails to dry partially, but if you start earlier, it'll blend out the colors nicer, which is what you want! The problem is that the brush might turn a little reddish...
Anyways, just put on a coat of sparkles.

Step5: When the nails are dry, make a basic outline of the flames using a black nail polish.

Step7: now fill in the tip of the nail with the black. Then paint the ring finger black as well.

Step8: now we will create the mockingjay. Start by using a yellow polish to make a circle. I used a toothpick.

Step9: to draw the head of the bird, make a small half moon on the inner left side of the circle.

Step10: next, draw the top wing by creating an elongated half moon, or just copy the shape I've created below.

Step11: draw in the rest of the bird and wings as shown below.

Step12: now take the toothpick and create a very thin line from the outside of the circle, through the beak, to the other side, as shown below. (This is the arrow on the mockingjay)

Step13: make the tip of the arrow with a small triangle.

Step14: You can add some glitter like I did to make the bird stand out. The last step is to wait for it to dry, and then add a top coat!

There's the finally design! I hope you like it! And I definitely recommend both the movies and the books! Happy Hunger Games!!!

Cupcake Nails!

Hey everyone! My birthday was November 14th, so this cupcake nail design was done in honor of that! I hope you like it, and keep reading for the tutorial.

Step1: Apply a base coat and a base color. I used this metallic blue from gosh.

Step2: Using a pink nail polish, make the cupcake wrapper. Just paint about a third of the nail pink from the tip. (I used La-pazitively Hot by OPI).

Step3: using a dark blue color, paint stripes in the pink area. You can make this stripes as thin or as thick as you like.

Step4: using a white nail polish, create the cake area. It should look almost like a cloud of white.

Step5: Time for the cherry on top! Just use a red color and make a big dot at the top of the white.

Step6: the last step is to add sprinkles. I just used a toothpick and made dots of various colors! (I used pink, orange, and blue, but you can use whatever you like).

If necessary, clean up around the nails with nail polish remover and a cotton swab. Then apply a top coat to seal in the design and add a sweet shine! Here's the final look!

Festive Nails

Hi everyone! This is a cute and super easy design for a casual day. I hope you enjoy it!

Step 1: Start by applying a base coat to protect your natural nails. Then use a silver polish as a base color. I used this one from Nicole by OPI called Positive Energy.

Step 2: Using the glitter polish of your choice, apply 2-3 thick layers of glitter.

Step 3: Using a pink nail polish (I used La Paz-itively Hot by OPI) create a stripe along the side of each nail. It should be thicker at the bottom and thin out at the top.

Step 4: Apply a layer of white to the top of the nail so that the tip matches up with the pink stripe.

Step 5: Using the same pink nail polish, create a thin pink stripe on top of the white stripe so that it is centered in the middle of the white portion.

Step 6: Make a black dot where the two pink and white stripes meet.

Step 7: Make some flower petals in any color of your choice from the black dot.

Step 8: Apply a top coat to seal in the design and protect your nails.

Here is the finished look! I hope that you enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any questions or comments below. Enjoy!

Butterfly Nail Art

This cute design is perfect for any occasion. You can mix up the colors to suit your personal preference too! Enjoy.

Step 1: Begin by applying a base coat to protect your natural nails. Then choose three colors, (I used pink, purple, and blue) and paint them onto your nails like I did below. If necessary, use two coats of each color for a more opaque look. I used polishes by OPI.

Step 2: When the base colors are dry, use a sparkly coat of glitter for an added effect. (This step is optional). I used a glitter from Sephora.

Step 3: Using a stripper, dotting tool, or a toothpick, create a general outline for the wing of a butterfly. Just copy the outline below. The black polish that I used is by Sally Hansen.

Step 4: Fill in the remainder of the outline at the top with black nail polish. Don't worry about any messiness, as we can fix that later.

Step 5: Using a dotting tool or a toothpick, create different sized white dots on the black outline. Finish off by applying a top coat to seal in the design and add a beautiful shine.

Repeat the same steps for the rest of the nails. You can use the same colors for each nail, or alternate colors like I did below. When you are done, use a cotton swab with nail polish remover to clean up any mistakes and messiness. The design is completed!

This is the final look! I hope that you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment below or leave any questions. I would love to see your recreations of this design! Also, follow me on instagram, at @lisa_xhe
